UCLA SMERC at India's RE-Invest



On February 17, 2015, SMERC director Dr. Rajit Gadh took part at the third session of India's 1st Renewable Energy Global Investors Meet & Expo in a panel that discussed a potential roadmap for deploying smart grids in India. According to the event's newsletter, the session discussed the role of smart grids in modern power generation and distribution systems, and integrating renewable energy into India's grid infrastructure. The panel was chaired by the Government of India's Dr. PK Mishra, Additional Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, and Mr. Devendra Chaudry, Additional Secretary for the Ministry of Power. The panel's other speakers included: BN Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Government of India; Francesco Marini of the Enel Group; Mackay Miller of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory; Reji Pillai of the India Smart Grid Forum; Siraj Bhattacharya of Sterlite Technologies Ltd.; and IS Jha, Director of the PGCIL Project. The group was moderated by Dr. Rahul Tongia, Fellow at Brookings India and Technical Advisor to the India Smart Grid Task Force.
