SMERC was featured on the front page of UCLA's website in a 'we, the optimists' story, which highlights the Grand Challenge Project to make Los Angeles "water and energy independent by 2050." SMERC is taking part in UCLA's initiative by bringing its expertise and innovation in building and testing smart grid technologies that integrate renewable energy sources and electric vehicles, increase energy efficiency, reduce power outages, and better respond to market, consumer and societal needs.
