Dr. Farrokh Habibi-Ashrafi

Dr. Farrokh Habibi-Ashrafi was a Senior Lead Engineer in the Advanced Technology Organization of Southern California Edison Company (SCE). He has been working at SCE for more than 18 years, with 10 years of it as a Senior Protection Engineer. Dr. Ashrafi led the advanced protection and control applications at SCE. He also was member of the investigating team for integration of renewable energy resources with the utilities grid.

Prior to joining SCE, Dr. Ashrafi was co-founder and Vice-President of Everest Engineering Company, where he was managing Transmission System, Distribution System, and Substation engineering and design for electric utilities, industrial plants, and military bases.

Dr. Habibi-Ashrafi received his Engineering degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from University of Tehran, and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from University of Southern California. Dr. Ashrafi is a Life Member of IEEE, part-time faculty at UCLA, CSULA, and is a registered professional electrical engineer in State of California. He has been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in electric power system for more than ten years.

Since 2015, Dr. Ashrafi is collaborating with SMERC as a part-time faculty in the UCLA MS Online program, and also as an industry mentor in the UCLA team for the NSF ICorp program.
