Omar Sheikh
Omar Sheikh made his foray into the world of power systems and renewable energy in 2007 when he joined the UCLA Formula Zero racecar development team. Here, Omar designed and built a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Race Kart that served to ignite his interest in energy efficient power and control systems. Omar received his B.S. in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2010. Drawing on his background in software development and microprocessors, Omar has since served as researcher, engineer, and lead developer at SMERC's (Smart Grid Energy Research Center) automated demand response project. Through continued study at UCLA's Chemical Engineering Department, Omar hopes to contribute to the fields of demand response, home automation integration, and energy optimization.
