Merrick Campbell
Merrick Campbell is currently an undergraduate mechanical engineering student at UCLA. Since he first saw the documentary Who Killed the Electric Car, he has wanted to work with electric vehicles. At SMERC, he currently assists with the design and construction of Level II EV Chargers. Outside of lab and studies, he enjoys reading, cooking, and constructing open-source 3D Printers. As an Eagle Scout, he mentors current scouts through the Bruin Scout program at UCLA. He is also on the executive board for Avengineering, a tinkering and 3D Printing club on campus. Back to People

Marx Cerqueira is a third year Electrical Engineering student University of Brasilia in Brazil. Fernanda Oliveira Moreira is an undergraduate student in Automation & Control Engineering at Pontificia Universidade Catolica de Minas Gerais (PUC-MG) in Brazil. As a grantee student participating in the Brazilian Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP), she studied at Arizona State University and participated in a research at UCLA Smart Grid Energy Research Center (SMERC).Now she is working on Smart Clue, an android application that integrated with an electronic circuit board can help the user save money on his energy bill. Karla Mota
Karla Leite Mota is an undergraduate Electrical Engineering major at Centro Universitário Newton Paiva, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. In 2013, she worked as an intern at the energy company Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (CEMIG). As a scholarship recipient of the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP), she studied for two terms at California State University Long Beach and participated in research at the UCLA Smart Grid Energy Research Center. Her main research interests in the field of smart grids are the integration of distributed energy resources into the grid, demand response, and consumer behavior.

Matheus Rodriguez da Silva
Matheus Rodrigues da Silva is a fourth year Electrical Engineering student at CEFET-RJ in Brazil. As a grantee student participating in the Brazilian Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP), he studied at Stony Brook University and participated in a research at UCLA Smart Grid Energy Research Center (SMERC) developing an application called Smart Clue, advising consumers to use the energy in a clever way, to save money and help the electrical grid with the problem of overloading on peak demand.
