UCLA SMERC will attend India's 1st Renewable Energy Global Investors Meet & Expo

New Delhi, India – UCLA's Dr. Rajit Gadh, director of the Smart Grid Energy Research Center (SMERC), will attend the Government of India's first Renewable Energy Global Investors Meet & Expo (RE-Invest) from February 15 to 17, 2015 at the Vigyan Bhawan convention center in New Delhi, India. According to the event's website, this conference and technology exhibition will provide a forum for domestic and international delegates, the public sector, renewable power developers and manufacturers, and other stakeholders to discuss the development of renewable energy to provide a sustainable solution to meet India's energy requirements.

Dr. Gadh will join the conference at a session set to last one hour and thirty minutes, in which he will discuss the challenges and possibilities of integrating solar and other renewable energies using smart grids. The discussion will be part of a panel that will evaluate strategies for implementing smart grids across the world and will cover policy and financing mechanisms to explore optimal solutions for India's power sector to implement smart grids in the country.

The three-day event will open with an inaugural address by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and is being organized by the Ministry of State (I/C) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy for the Government of India. The Honorable Minister of State Piyush Goyal will also speak at the opening reception.
